Obituary

Millie M. Spears, 84, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital with members of her loving family at her side.  Millie was born on November 2, 1936, to Lloyd and Grace (Martens) Coop on a farm northeast of Osborne.  Millie began her education at a country schoolhouse not far from their family farm.  She graduated from Osborne High School in 1954.  Millie was united in marriage to Duane Spears at the United Methodist Church, Osborne, Kansas on April 16, 1955.  Together they shared and were blessed with nearly 66 years of marriage.  In the first two years of their marriage Duane and Millie were stationed at Fort Bliss Army Post, El Paso, Texas.  At the end of Duane's military service they returned to Osborne County in Kill Creek Township and began a lifetime of farming and ranching together.  A farm girl at heart Millie embraced being a farm wife and partner on the farm with Duane.  They were blessed with the birth of four sons; Dennis, David, Douglas, and Doyle.  Millie was known for her cooking of hearty and delicious meals for all the family as well as the hired hands and harvest crews.  Much time was devoted attending 4-H meetings and fairs, serving as a home exension member, sewing and mending clothes, taking care of livestock and helping on the farm.  She also took great pride and joy in attending her kids' and grandkids' activities.  Her love for her family had no boundaries, and she was always there to encourage and show her support.  Millie's faith was important to her as she attended the Presbyterian Country Church in Kill Creek Township.  Her family will deeply miss her genuine kindness, hospitality, and the love she had for each family member.  In fact, she often told her children and grandchildren to "Love one Another".

Millie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Marrida Ribeau, and son Dennis Spears.  She is survived by her husband Duane Spears, Osborne; sons, David Spears (Pam), Valley Center, Kansas; Doug Spears (Tammy) and Doyle Spears (Lisa), Osborne, Kansas.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
